Our work focuses on the communication of space through its spatial matter, scale and nature. Our topos of architecture intertwines these fundamental orders with the aestetics and the craftsmanship of contemporary art.
 Matter is the basis, scale is the system and nature is the surrounding.
The elements of our processing are changing project-based, but any design starts with something existing.&#38;nbsp;Context makes sense.

WAY-Village 
A detailed system for great rural plots 

Flessenow, Dobin am See
The basis of the conception was to pursue the village in its way of appearance, matter and shape - not to isolate aside the village, but be guided by the analysis of the inhabitants habits to reform the collective. 
Rural living is constantly connected to the outside, whose outline of private, half-private and completly commom spaces defines a high potential of the country side. 
The idea of a floor plan as a house had to be spread across the whole property and each site - in the same small scale units as the village itself. 
Through differences in elevation, flooring and planting of vegetation the outline of functions will be constructed to be enhanced by the owners. 
Developing different types of sites within the plot helped to fit to the range of user profiles and delivered furthermore a complex usability. 
The types make out in the amount of volumes on the site and inside-outside relations. 
The certain volumes generate spaces, whose level of intimacy and dissemination shall be experienced and practised situative by the owners. 

The repeating pattern of the main living modular unit, with its reflected shape of an existing house character forms an identity; while the functional volumes, related to the imprinting and minimized GDR-weekend house are building a structure to get enlivened by the owners in the depth of each site. 
At the outline of the sites the volumes appear brick-stoned, as they connect to the middle wood-structured. 
Through the arrangement of the sites a collage-like woven carpet originates, which inhabits open space and ownership in a rural approach. 
Apart from closing the loose street area in the north of the plot, we designed a planted “laubenweg” inbetween the sites as an open cummutation. The “laubenweg” shall be planted by mature and fruitbearing trees, which run out to the ownerships to not only mark the context, but generate a use and surplus for the whole village. 
Functionally the “laubenweg” develops a footway, which leads from the lake in the west, to the village center, implying a new cummutation space, a playground and a fire place by the southern woods and set agriculture areas in the east of the property.

XYZ-Prefab
A system for social housing in an entiry wooden construction&#38;nbsp;
Wedding, BERLIN
The module is joined together in a grid of ceilings and walls, whose prefabricated and standardized panels are placed in the wooden structure in a repeting principle. 
An efficient assembling of the columns and beams without the use of steel connections in a self developed wooden junction sets good conditions for firesafety regulations and a cost and time saving erection. The measure of the construction stays design medium to the facade and the floorplan. Due to the standardization of panels the module can be modified and extended in all directions to create new dimensions and situations.

The objective is to design with keen medium and develope a living quarter system that can be adapted to a variety of situations. Living inside the city should be open, related, collaborative and recognizeable. Additionally the system builts an interface of private and public. 

A minimized living space is regulated by an open room layout. The floorplan is articulated through a wintergarden connecting the continous living room with the public arcade and the inlaying bathroom. The prefabricated wet room box is always stratified vertically to reduce pipe laying costs.
An open infrastructural area is placed in between or sideways of the living complex and involves common terraces. The modularity makes the application of the housing readable through a greened facade.
According to the projection of the arcade in front of the private entrance zones the facade gets structured and develops half private balconies, which are bringing life and diversity into the walkways.

 
The integration of the structure in the urban context of Berlin Wedding takes place in a situative, subsequent and condensing way. As the neighbourhood shows a wide range of&#38;nbsp;perimeter development, detached new buildings such as private and public usage of different age groups, the key is to remain and extand those qualities. Therefore the spacially pleasing area in beetween the seventies buildings&#38;nbsp;is edged in a open courtyard in a continuative parkland.
Through densifying the western outline the property gets&#38;nbsp;more defined than isolated and gains attendance towards&#38;nbsp;Giuneastraße. Eaves height are adjusted to the existing&#38;nbsp;building and graduated to the surrounding. The horizontal setback in the complexe marks the common spaces&#38;nbsp;and infrastucture. Across splicing the building, the open&#38;nbsp;raised ground floor stays in direct contact with the&#38;nbsp;playground, neighbour buildings and public sidewalks.

OFF-Building

A proposal for conversion to KIEZ-WERK

Oberschöneweide, BERLIN

 
The former rubber fabric of the VEB Kabelwerk Oberspree (cable-manufacturing plant) in Berlin is a abandoned property since the tournaround, like most of the listed buildings at the industrial belt.

The building, which was constructed at the beginning oft he 80s in the GDR, was situated at a reclamation of land inside the Spree, because of its large-scale.

Between the dense industrial development of the early 20s the new design was supposed to fullfil the task of addition in a highly functional and compact way.

The kiez is undergoing a big change since the HTW (university) was located nearby the site into old AEG buildings, as part of the city planning scheme providing Oberschöneweide as founders and technology hotspot nearby the Berlin city center.

Over and above the demographic conversion is anticipated by the fact of increasing rents inside the Berliner Ring and therefore give rise to a new cultural revival of the region.

The abandoned properties along the Spree are becoming more and more the home of temorarily used spaces for small-sized industrial units, craftsman, artisan and artists.

New living projects with in total more than 1000 units will be realized in Nieder- and Oberschöneweide the next three years. Many projects with the spacial approach of small-size units for student profils have been realized the last years in direct contact to the industrial belt.

To give the location the harshly needed fixed cultural infrastructur and a meeting point for the Kiez we decided to choose the Platz am Kaisersteg as a vital space.

Located at the perceived center , with the connection of the pedestrian bridge to Niederschöneweide and the link to the S-Bahnstation Schöneweide the site holds the potential to become a cultural melting pot and a recreation green.

The idea of the project is making the proactive claimed boardwalk along the river possible. 

The crossing axes at the site making the spot a public junction, which shall survive the overplanning of todays temporary usage across the belt.

The main idea of the project was to work with the existing spacial qualities of the old production plot and clear up the detailed floor plans, towards a multifunctional open floor plan with chosen visual and audible, overall experiencable relations.

XYZ-Prefab
A system for social housing in an entiry wooden construction&#38;nbsp;
Wedding, BERLIN
The module is joined together in a grid of ceilings and walls, whose prefabricated and standardized panels are placed in the wooden structure in a repeting principle. 
An efficient assembling of the columns and beams without the use of steel connections in a self developed wooden junction sets good conditions for firesafety regulations and a cost and time saving erection. The measure of the construction stays design medium to the facade and the floorplan. Due to the standardization of panels the module can be modified and extended in all directions to create new dimensions and situations.

The objective is to design with keen medium and develope a living quarter system that can be adapted to a variety of situations. Living inside the city should be open, related, collaborative and recognizeable. Additionally the system builts an interface of private and public. 

A minimized living space is regulated by an open room layout. The floorplan is articulated through a wintergarden connecting the continous living room with the public arcade and the inlaying bathroom. The prefabricated wet room box is always stratified vertically to reduce pipe laying costs.
An open infrastructural area is placed in between or sideways of the living complex and involves common terraces. The modularity makes the application of the housing readable through a greened facade.
According to the projection of the arcade in front of the private entrance zones the facade gets structured and develops half private balconies, which are bringing life and diversity into the walkways.

 
The integration of the structure in the urban context of Berlin Wedding takes place in a situative, subsequent and condensing way. As the neighbourhood shows a wide range of&#38;nbsp;perimeter development, detached new buildings such as private and public usage of different age groups, the key is to remain and extand those qualities. Therefore the spacially pleasing area in beetween the seventies buildings&#38;nbsp;is edged in a open courtyard in a continuative parkland.
Through densifying the western outline the property gets&#38;nbsp;more defined than isolated and gains attendance towards&#38;nbsp;Giuneastraße. Eaves height are adjusted to the existing&#38;nbsp;building and graduated to the surrounding. The horizontal setback in the complexe marks the common spaces&#38;nbsp;and infrastucture. Across splicing the building, the open&#38;nbsp;raised ground floor stays in direct contact with the&#38;nbsp;playground, neighbour buildings and public sidewalks.

OFF-Building

A proposal for conversion to KIEZ-WERK

Oberschöneweide, BERLIN

 
The former rubber fabric of the VEB Kabelwerk Oberspree (cable-manufacturing plant) in Berlin is a abandoned property since the tournaround, like most of the listed buildings at the industrial belt.

The building, which was constructed at the beginning oft he 80s in the GDR, was situated at a reclamation of land inside the Spree, because of its large-scale.

Between the dense industrial development of the early 20s the new design was supposed to fullfil the task of addition in a highly functional and compact way.

 
The kiez is undergoing a big change since the HTW (university) was located nearby the site into old AEG buildings, as part of the city planning scheme providing Oberschöneweide as founders and technology hotspot nearby the Berlin city center.

Over and above the demographic conversion is anticipated by the fact of increasing rents inside the Berliner Ring and therefore give rise to a new cultural revival of the region.

The abandoned properties along the Spree are becoming more and more the home of temorarily used spaces for small-sized industrial units, craftsman, artisan and artists.

 
New living projects with in total more than 1000 units will be realized in Nieder- and Oberschöneweide the next three years. Many projects with the spacial approach of small-size units for student profils have been realized the last years in direct contact to the industrial belt.

 
To give the location the harshly needed fixed cultural infrastructur and a meeting point for the Kiez we decided to choose the Platz am Kaisersteg as a vital space.

Located at the perceived center , with the connection of the pedestrian bridge to Niederschöneweide and the link to the S-Bahnstation Schöneweide the site holds the potential to become a cultural melting pot and a recreation green.

 
The idea of the project is making the proactive claimed boardwalk along the river possible. 

The crossing axes at the site making the spot a public junction, which shall survive the overplanning of todays temporary usage across the belt.

 
The main idea of the project was to work with the existing spacial qualities of the old production plot and clear up the detailed floor plans, towards a multifunctional open floor plan with chosen visual and audible, overall experiencable relations.
